TOOL & SCISSOR SHARPENING MASTERCLASS

All of our most loved upholstery tools, such as scissors and chisels, will inevitably end up going blunt, so that's why we have invited expert Harry Morris to come and host a Textile Tool Sharpening Masterclass at BUC.

In this course, you will learn the importance of sharp tools and how to recognise if one is sharp or beginning to become blunt. Whether you are a textile artist, upholster, woodworker or general crafts person, this course will give you the skills you need to keep your best-loved tools in tip-top shape!

You will learn about:

  • How to recognise a sharp or blunt tool

  • Types of sharpening stones and abrasives

  • How to sharpen scissors, chisels, knives and other textile tools

Gain the confidence to sharpen your tools to a razor edge and know how to keep them that way forever. The skills you learn in this workshop can also be applied to your kitchen knives at home!

Bring along some of your favourite textile scissors, chisels or button dies and we will show you how to get them sharper than the day you bought them! If you don’t have any to bring, just let us know and we will make sure there are tools available in the workshop for you to use.
