A TWIST ON TRADITION

We roll out the red carpet and welcome the Queen of Upholstery , Wendy Shorter MBE. Awarded for her contribution to craft, Wendy is well known for her passion for upholstery, the trade and its governance by the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers.

Likened to an 'Open Day', if you are considering studying upholstery and gaining your qualification, you will be skipping out of here and signing up!

Traditional upholstery is fascinating in so many ways.

Spend the day meeting the upholstery community, fellow students, AMU tutors and Directors of Training Centres.

Pick up tips and tricks, exchange stories and connect.

If you are an upholsterer working in isolation here's your chance to network with your fellow enthusiasts... many you may have listened to in Robbies podcast 'In-Stitches'.

Speaker: Wendy Shorter MBE

After recently inheriting the Chapman Collection, Wendy Shorter MBE might as well be Royalty herself. Awarded an MBE after the new years honours list was announced in 2020, for her contribution to Craft Education, Wendy will be joining us to deliver a fascinating talk on some very special Fabrics. Wendy's knowledge exceeds most in the industry of upholstery and if you are currently studying for your Diploma she'll be giving away a lot of the answers for your research project!

Crowned Master of the Company of Worshipful Upholders, Training Director at AMUSF and Director of Wendy Shorter Interiors, pushing for a change in government laws regarding fire regs - the wealth of knowledge, drive and professionalism of Wendy's well-earned status makes her an unmissable guest at our event.

Q&A: Up Up and Away!

11:30am - 12:30pm

Robbie Richardson, owner of Richardson & Page spent lockdowns recording an incredibly insightful podcast, 'In-Stitches', where he invited upholsterers to share their start-up story.

Since then Robbie and his team have launched 'STUFF STITCH' Magazine, packed full of interesting articles reflecting our practices world wide.

Robbie will be hosting our Q&A session, joined by members of the Guild & AMUSF,  for anyone interested in becoming an upholsterer.
