We are all aware of the upward trend in furniture upcycling, but is it so much of a new trend?

With TV shows promoting the reuse, reuse and recycle ethos of having a go at giving your items another life, we all seem to be grabbing a paintbrush and getting stuck in. But what do we really know about upcycling? When did it all begin? Is it just a cheap quick fix? What's our attitude towards the value of this creative practice? Would you consider an upcycled item one of luxury?

So many questions, soon to be answered by Director of The House of Upcycling, Chris Billingham and her marvellous high-end guests.
