Join our Sewing Weekend and build your confidence in sewing techniques to produce a Scatter Cushion and a Box cushion, over 2 fun days.


Scatter cushions are a beginner project that add comfort and colour to your interiors.


Box Cushions can be found as 'Loose seats' on Armchairs - you may have upholstered the main chair in class but now need to sew your seat to finish.



Time: 9:30am - 4:00pm

Venue: Bristol Upholstery Collective Training Centre - 186 Wells Road BS42AL

Course Fee: £195 inc. zips, piping cord & feather insert ('practice' upholstery fabric can be provided if necessary)

You'll need:

- a domestic sewing machine & thread
- fabric (approx half metre)
- scissors and pins (Sewing Pins £8 or Clips £10 per box)


  • Understand how and why sewing machines work

  • Learn how to thread up and correct tension

  • Get a feel for what your machine likes and does’t like - Complete our fun sewing exercise!

  • Know what to do when your machine makes a strange sound and stops working.

  • Practice making Single and Double piping

  • Sew around corners

  • Sew in a zip

  • Take Home a Scatter cushion that you have successfully sewn.

You'll need:

- a domestic sewing machine & thread
- your seat cushion (either feather or foam cut to size - further advice in the info pack when booked)
- fabric approx 1m
- scissors and pins (Sewing Pins £8 or Clips £10 per box)

(Practice fabric will be provided to get comfortable with the feel of the machine)

Please email a picture of your intended project and dimensions so advise can be given if necessary, prior to the course start date.

(Usually 1m of fabric for 1 box cushion, depending on pattern repeat and match).


PLEASE NOTE: Only experienced sewing students may purchase the BOX CUSHION project day separately- we want you to complete to a high standard, and this may not be possible during the allocated time - we recommend attending both days to enable progression, if you are completely new to sewing.
